SAMR in the library

“As we move from substitution to redefinition we are moving from enchancing to transforming student learning”  (Pudentedura, 2019)

The last sentence of this video sums up well the SAMR model and the role that the TL and LLC can play in supporting the transformation of student learning.

The LLC can be a place where teachers become more aware of and confident in using technology to redefine their learning tasks. By partnering with a TL who understands the role that technology can play in supporting new ways of learning, a classroom teacher can become more confident with technology tools and see how we can use technology to move towards the redefinition of learning. For example, a teacher who is comfortable using chromebooks with their students to type up a written book review assignment could work with the TL to transform that task into one that allows students to collaborate on a book review, share their book reviews with the larger community on a book review blog or district library site, record book talks to share with peers in another school or province, or even communicate directly with an author during a digital author visit, all using the same chromebook.
